York Balloon Fiesta

Fri 27th – Sun 29th September

Watch as the skies of York are transformed once again at the magical hot air balloon show based at York Racecourse. Following last year’s success, York Balloon Fiesta is back with live music, delicious food and drink, children’s entertainment and its show-stopping Balloon Night Glow, fireworks and laser show. What’s more, the family-friendly event is completely free! So, put it in your diaries and make sure you don’t miss out on the fun.

York Beer and Cider Festival

Weds 18th – Sat 21st September

Another unmissable event held at York Racecourse this year. York Beer and Cider Festival will take place in a huge marquee with over 500 real ales, 100 ciders, and a massive beer garden for good measure. You’ll also be able to enjoy a foreign beer bar as well as UK ales, world wines, delicious food, live music and talks from internationally famous beer writers. There are even some demonstrations on how best to cook with beer! Tickets for non-members start from as little as £3.50, so, what are you waiting for?

Heart of York Bike Ride

Sunday 8th September

Feeling active? Join the fight for every heartbeat by taking part in the British Heart Foundation charity bike ride! Not only will you feel accomplished, but you’ll also get to experience the scenic countryside of North Yorkshire as you cycle from the city of York through the scenic moors. If this is your first bike ride, try the 26-mile route, or if you’re up to the challenge, go for the 41-mile course!

We proudly stand in the historic neighbourhood of Walmgate, just a short walk from all the city has to offer.

At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.
