York Dungeon Lates

Visit York Dungeons this October, only an 8-minute walk from our boutique hotel in York.  This month their ‘Dungeon Lates’ night returns for adults only. Be prepared to delve deeper into the gruesome history of York, with even more surprises and scares in the shows. With 11 performances to see (as well as some exclusive ones) get ready to be truly terrified! The Dungeon Lates returns for 2 days only this month – 25th & 26th October – booking is essential and remember…it’s for strictly over 18s!

The Great York Ghost Search

York may be the most haunted city in Europe, but don’t worry, many of our ghouls are friendly! So if you’re not a fan of the spooky stuff The Great York Ghost Search is the event for you, especially if you’re visiting with kids! Visit York have hidden 26 ghost lamps and mini ghosts around the city, but they need your help to find them. Find them all and you could win some spooktacular prizes! Download a map from the Visit York website and get your ghost hunt on! Find a mini ghost on your search and it’s yours to keep, find a special edition green mini ghost which you can hand into York Dungeons to claim some free tickets – pretty good if you ask us! 3,2,1…go hunt!

York Haunted House

Dare you brave York’s Haunted House? Nestled right in the heart of the city, the ghosts of York Mansion House are up to no good! Floorboards creak, lights flicker and the wind howls through the cracks in the window! Your friendly guides will venture with you into rooms to solve puzzles and crack clues in order to protect the house from ghoulish goings-on. Think you’ve got what it takes? We proudly stand in the historic neighbourhood of Walmgate, just a short walk from all the city has to offer.

At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.

As a Yorkshireman, York is one of my favourite places to visit and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit York as it will add to your overall experience. I visit many hotels in the UK and Europe during the course of my job and I can not remember feeling so pleased with my choice of hotel.
