The Bloody York Gin Tour

If Gin and history delight and entice you, then The Bloody York Gin Tour will be right up your street.Take a two-hour trip around the city of York and discover some of the lesser known, but still notorious outlaws. From Guy Fawkes and Dick Turpin, to ‘The Yorkshire Witch’ and Mary Bateman, you’re sure to come away knowing more than you did to begin with.Tickets are £35, and tours are on selected dates: 13th March, 16th April and 14th May. There are strictly no children allowed on this tour.

Experience ‘Emmerdale’ at the studio experience

Eeh by gum! You can’t visit Yorkshire wi’out a trip to Emmerdale. I mean, it’s not strictly true and we won’t hold you to it, but if you do like the Yorkshire soap then it makes sense to visit! It’s located on Burley Road in Leeds, about 20 miles from our hotel in York. The tour lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes, and you’ll get to see how stunts are created, as well as finding out how they put an episode together. Tickets cost £23.50 for adults and £12.50 for children, and can be booked via their website.

Visit No.88 Walmgate

As March is #veggiemonth, we recommend No.88 Walmgate for all your veggie and vegan food delights. From a traditional Yorkshire pudding and gravy for starters to falafel shawarma salad for mains, there is something to please everyone on this menu. Check out the menu and get your tummy rumbling!

York Fashion Week

From 25th – 31st March 2019, York Fashion Week will celebrate fashion, style, and creativity across the city of York. Events at York Fashion Week come in the form of free personal styling, to catwalks and even a film about the late Alexander McQueen. If fashion is your forte then this is definitely worth a look! We proudly stand in the historic neighbourhood of Walmgate, just a short walk from all the city has to offer.

At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.

As a Yorkshireman, York is one of my favourite places to visit and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit York as it will add to your overall experience. I visit many hotels in the UK and Europe during the course of my job and I can not remember feeling so pleased with my choice of hotel.
