Bonfire Night & Firework Displays
Like any city, York doesn’t fall short when it comes to Bonfire Night, with parks, country houses and organisations across the city getting involved in the annual holiday. Going all out for the 5th November, visitors can expect huge bonfires, stunning fireworks displays, delicious cosy food and even funfair rides! Some of the best displays include; York Maze, Rawcliffe Country Park and Poppleton.
A Christmas Carol musical
Scrooge and his ghostly encounters take to the Joseph Rowntree stage in the fantastic ‘A Christmas Carol’ between 14th- 17th November. The musical follows the story Ebenezer Scrooge, a nasty man who hates the festive season, one night he is visited by 3 ghosts: Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present and Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, who show him the error of his ways. The 3-night spectacle will be sure to get you and your family in the Christmas spirit!
Late Night Shopping
Yes, it’s that time again, Late Night Shopping has begun in York city centre! Thanks to ‘Thank York It’s Friday’ visitors and local residents can now shop ‘til they drop after closing hours on Fridays. Whether you want to mooch around the little boutique stores, pick up goodies from big retailers or fancy a late-night meal.
