York Christmas Light Switch On
Let the festivities begin! Gather in York on the 14th November, and see things kick-off with the official light switch-on in St Helens Square. York Christmas Festival
There is nothing more festive than York’s Christmas Festival. Unwrap the magic of Christmas as traditional markets, sell handmade goods, and the scents of spices and mulled wine fill the air. York Christmas Market and St Nicholas Fair also won Best Large Speciality Market at the 2019 Great British Market Awards. 14th November – 22nd December.
He’s behind you! Going to see a Panto is a tradition for many families at Christmas, an experience like no other. This year, York Theatre Royal is putting on ‘Sleeping Beauty’ with all the regular and lovable panto family members. Around 40,000 people enjoy this show every year, so make it part of your festive celebrations.
The Keeping of Christmas
Experience the magic of Christmas in the 18th century at Fairfax House. See the Georgians’ love for the festive holiday, and admire how they decorated their homes ready for Christmas, as well as their festive food, extravagant dining table displays and elegant decorations. Sip on mulled wine and mince pies served in The Georgian Kitchen (inc. with admission).
