Treasurer’s House

 

A swanky townhouse which dates back to medieval times, Treasurer’s House was the first ever house given to the National Trust. With a history spanning 2,000 years, it offers a complete collection of antique furniture, textiles and paintings for visitors to admire. The house is complete with stunning gardens, which have won Gold in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition for the past five years! Bedern Hall

Discover the hidden medieval Bedern Hall, the 14th-century dining hall of the Vicars Choral of York Minster. The hall certainly has a story to tell, from Victorian slums to a bakery and butchers and the building that it is today. Like many historic buildings, Bedern has undergone restoration yet still has many of its original features. Enjoy a coffee, glass of wine and savoury snack in the quaint courtyard café! Mansion House

Said to be one of York’s best-kept secrets, York Mansion House is the earliest purpose-built house for a Lord Mayor still in existence. Undergoing one of the biggest restorations since it was built in 1732, the house has a fascinating collection of civic artefacts for you to discover. At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.
