Christmas Celebrations: Festivities at Our Boutique Hotel In York

This December, here at Hotel Indigo York, we’re brimming with excitement as we are on a journey of festive wonder with our spectacular events and stays. In the heart of York, our hotel is in the midst of  ‘a miracle on Walmgate,’ where we are bringing the magic of Christmas to life. Not only do these winter-themed festivities provide blissful opportunities for our amazing guests, but they also serve as a great chance to give back to the local community, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Yorkshire Children’s Charity. Let’s explore the enchantment awaiting at Hotel Indigo In York and in the surrounding City for the rest of December…

North-Pole Themed Room In Our Boutique York Hotel

Here at Hotel Indigo York, we believe that making new and incredible memories is so important! That is why we have introduced an extraordinary addition to this snowy season, a North-Pole-themed room. This is a chance of a lifetime to stay in a luxuriously decorated winter wonderland and our guests who have already stayed have been loving it! Imagine yourself ascending our elegant stairs to your magical getaway, surrounded by the sweet aroma of Christmas, with delicious notes of apple and cinnamon.

As you open the door, ambient twinkling lights reveal the beauty within. Exquisite wreaths and garlands enchant, leading your line of sight to the comfiest bed adorned with blankets and pillows, perfect for a cosy snuggle.

Beneath the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, there are stockings filled with festive treats, making our North-Pole-themed room the ultimate festive retreat.

If you haven’t yet had a chance to book and fancy staying a night, you can book your stay here: to immerse yourself in the festive feels.

We put a lot of heartfelt commitment into supporting the less privileged. This year we have decided to donate a portion of each North Pole room booking to the Yorkshire Children’s Charity. Your stay becomes a lovely contribution to the community, making the experience even more meaningful.

Christmas Market In York

St. Nicolas Fair And The Shambles Stalls

We are so lucky that on our doorstep is a realm of endless magic and festivities. Our favourite activity is going to visit the enchanted St. Nicolas Fair and the stalls and The Shambles. You should go as well and make the most of the rest of the Christmas period!

If you happen to find yourself there, there is something for everyone. If you are going with your partner in crime, you can mix it up and become partners in ‘wine’ with the market’s superbly enticing mulled wine stalls. If hot chocolate is more up your street, you can find vendors serving it up steaming, loaded with all the toppings, yum!

Maybe this festive period is going a bit too fast and you haven’t had a chance to think about your Christmas shopping, there is certainly no reason to worry as St. Nicolas Fair and The Shambles have all the quirky bits on offer that make for the best Christmas for your loved ones.

The Chocolate Story In York

Would you maybe admit to being a bit of a choc-o-holic? Don’t you fear, we won’t judge, we are as well! If you love a bit of sweetness then a trip to York’s Chocolate Story might be just what you need!

The Chocolate Story is such a fun, entertaining, and informative guide through the history of York’s super-famous chocolate-making expeditions! You get to unwrap the secrets of chocolate, experience a fully guided tour, and even become a master chocolatier yourself! We think the best bit is taste-testing some chocolate.

York Chocolate Story is even hosting some festive fun, from their chocolate-making with Santa (we hope we don’t get on the naughty list for eating the chocolate while you are making it), to a Christmas family workshop, and even Christmas chocolate masterclasses and truffle rolling, there are so many ways to make incredible new memories with your family and friends.

You must book before you visit as the tours are ticketed. You can easily buy tickets here.

We hope that you love the Christmas festivities that we have this year and also enjoy all the excitement that is just a stone’s throw away from our gorgeous and cosy hotel.

We proudly stand in the historic neighbourhood of Walmgate, just a short walk from all the city has to offer.

At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.
