We know at No.88 Walmgate that humble drink and food just tastes far better, that’s why we only serve up great drink and rustic pizzas – simple, fuss free but nevertheless an ideal pairing!

We are proud of our Yorkshire roots here on the ever-cool Walmgate in York, so you’ll find Rudgate Beer (brewed just 30 minutes down the road) and York Gin (distilled here in York) behind the bar. If you prefer familiar, then we have you covered with Peroni, Corona and Amstel, amongst others, on offer.

The No.88 team love a creative cocktail, look forward to flavourful concoctions such as our signature, Indigo Bluebird. Classics such as Espresso Martini and Old Fashioned also occupy the menu. Of course, coffee, tea (including Yorkshire tea) and a variety of soft drinks are available too.

Curb your appetite with a delicious rustic pizza fresh from the kitchen. 12 inches of authentic Italian dough using the finest ingredients – no artificial ingredients, preservatives, or sugar just 100% Italian flour and olive oil.

    The Shambles

    We proudly stand in the historic neighbourhood of Walmgate, just a short walk from all the city has to offer.

    At one point Walmgate had 20 pubs on the street, today it is a cool mix of independent restaurants, bars and shops and continues to Fossgate – which boasts even more independent shops, delis, bars and restaurants. Walmgate Bar proudly stands at the end of the road. It is the only existing bar in York with a Barbican and forms part of the York City Walls walk.

    As a Yorkshireman, York is one of my favourite places to visit and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit York as it will add to your overall experience. I visit many hotels in the UK and Europe during the course of my job and I can not remember feeling so pleased with my choice of hotel.
